When the Night is Over,” a new song from Lord Huron, debuts today. Listen/share it here:https://LordHuron.lnk.to/WTNIOPR. Of the track, singer/songwriter/producer Ben Schneider says, “We wanted this song to feel something like a Raymond Chandler story, a desperate search through a rain-soaked, neon-lit city. The groove section in the middle is one of my favorite passages on the album.” The track appears on the band’s highly anticipated record Vide Noir, out April 20 on Whispering Pines/Republic RecordsVide Noir can be pre-ordered here:https://LordHuron.lnk.to/VideNoirPR

Additionally, the band have made the additional seven songs off Vide Noir available to stream at geo-locations across the US, Canada and UK. Locations include hikes, national parks, beaches and even a volcano. Head to followtheemeraldstar.com for more information. The band has hinted at further immersive experiences to come, crafted to expand upon the album’s narratives and theme. A true multi-media artist, Schneider has once again created a hidden world to inhabit within Vide Noir. Watch the album trailer at http://bit.ly/2FjvWsi

In support of Vide Noir, the band is set for a worldwide tour beginning this spring. Even as the band headlines their largest venues to date, many shows (including New York City, Chicago, Boston, Oakland and Seattle) have sold out months in advance. Every pair of tickets ordered for the U.S. headlining tour includes a copy of Vide Noir. Tickets for the dates are on sale now at http://lordhuron.com.

Most recently, the band performed their lead single “Wait by the River” on “
Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The single is already the subject of widespread critical praise; the Los Angeles Timesproclaims, “It’s a gorgeous song, one with the majesty of a 1950s doo-wop ballad,” while SPINadds, “[‘Wait by the River’] offers a refined, waltz-like sound that can’t quite cover for the sins of a fatalistically obsessed narrator.”

Vide Noir was written and recorded over the past two years at Lord Huron’s Los Angeles studio and informal clubhouse, Whispering Pines, and was mixed by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips/MGMT). Schneider found inspiration wandering restlessly through his adopted home of L.A. at night: “My nighttime drives ranged all over the city—across the twinkling grid of the valley, into the creeping shadows of the foothills, through downtown’s neon canyons and way out to the darksome ocean. I started imagining Vide Noir as an epic odyssey through the city, across dimensions, and out into the cosmos. A journey along the spectrum of human experience. A search for meaning amidst the cold indifference of The Universe,” he says.

Originally a musical and visual solo project by Michigan-native-turned-Angeleno Schneider, Lord Huron now includes members Mark Barry (percussion), Miguel Briseño (bass) and Tom Renaud (guitar). After a pair of independent EPs, Lord Huron released two full-length albums Lonesome Dreams (2012) and Strange Trails(2015) on IAMSOUND Records, followed by extensive touring and prestigious festival appearances both stateside and abroad. After appearing in the hit Netflix show “13 Reasons Why” the band’s song “The Night We Met” (from Strange Trails) was officially certified Platinum in January 2018.

Chris Carter (ex-Throbbing Gristle) Releases First New Album in 17 Years; Listen Now

CHRIS CARTER (EX-THROBBING GRISTLE)

RELEASES FIRST SOLO ALBUM IN 17 YEARS

LISTEN TO CHEMISTRY LESSONS VOLUME ONE
Photo: Cosey F Tutti
“… a new electronic masterpiece” – Electronic Sound

“An atmospheric masterclass” – Q Magazine

“…simultaneously looks back over its shoulder and glares straight into the eye of the future” – The Wire

“… one of the most astonishing electronic works…” - PROG

"...each [song is] propelled by percolating, Age Of Tomorrow synthesizers and awash in ghostly, extra-terrestrial voices to conjure late-night adventures in the lab." – AV CLUB

"...an overarching etude on experimental electronic music." – POPMATTERS

CHRIS CARTER has released his eagerly awaited new album – and his first in 17 years – Chris Carter’s Chemistry Lessons Volume One. Listen to the album here.

In addition, Carter has launched a series of “chemistry lesson” videos with Chris Carter’s Chemistry Lesson on Artwork. In the lessonCarter explains the process and inspirations behind his self-designed artwork. This will be followed tomorrow by Chris Carter’s Chemistry Lesson on Effects Pedals. Keep checking http://ccclv1.net/ – Chris’s newly launched website featuring an interactive periodic table – for additional lessons in the coming weeks.
Photo: Cosey F Tutti

Chemistry Lessons Volume One is populated with insistent melodic patterns and a distinct sense of wonderment at the limitless possibilities of science. “If there’s an influence on the album, it’s definitely ‘60s radiophonic,” Carter says. “And over the last few years I’ve also been listening to old English folk music, almost like a guilty pleasure, and so some of tracks on the album hark back to an almost ingrained DNA we have for those kinds of melodies.”

As a founding member of Throbbing Gristle alongside Cosey Fanni Tutti, Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson and Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Chris Carter has had a significant role in the development of electronic music – a journey which has continued through his releases as one half of Chris & Cosey and Carter Tutti and a third of Carter Tutti Void – as well as with his own solo and collaborative releases.

He is also credited with the invention and production of groundbreaking electronics – from the legendary Gristleizer home-soldered effects unit through to the Dirty Carter Experimental Sound Generating Instrument and the sold-out TG One Eurorack module (designed with Tiptop Audio, these modules can be heard during Carter’s set at a recent Rough Trade event) and the Future Sound Systems Gristleizer modules – Carter has created the means to make sounds as well as making the sounds themselves.

The 25-track album was recorded in Carter’s own Norfolk, England studio and the artwork and accompanying videos were self-created, taking cues in part from battered old experimental BBC broadcast LPs.

Despite having been worked on over an extended period between various artistic projects in a variety of different moods, situations and circumstances, Chemistry Lessons Volume One’s experiments never feel like Carter noodling around aimlessly in his studio-laboratory. Instead there is an inner coherence and a distinctively Chris Carter approach to sound and execution that showcases the sonic scientist’s restless, questing creative spirit forever scouting for new ideas.

Tickets will go on sale tomorrow, March 29th at 10AM local time. See below for routing!

Recently, Charlotte released her newest single “Just The Same.” The track expands on the singer’s shimmering, slick, and sharp style. Over airy production and glitchy beats, a hypnotic croon takes hold before Charlotte serves up the surprisingly sassy and irresistibly catchy falsetto chant, “I fucking hate you, but I love you just the same.”

Premiere via The Grey Estates

Their Prime will be available May 25th worldwide from Sub Pop Records with the exception of Canada through
Royal Mountain Records
Jo Passed and director Justin Gradin have delivered a new, surreal visual for Their Prime standout “Millennial Trash Blues” [watch here].” Director Gradin offers this of the video: "A nightmare on the tip of an eyelash. An astrological garbage dump with burning snowflakes and a trap door.  A wild teen awake in someone else's dream."

The Grey Estates premiered the video, and said, “The dream world created in Jo Passed's video for "Millennial Trash Blues" is as dynamic, colorful and unsettled as its single counterpart. The visuals...are unusual and outlandish, the costumed characters and eye-popping imagery inspired by the act of stepping into someone's dream. And while the brightly painted faces and monster under the bed that appear in the video are memorable, it's the single that holds it all together; a perfect soundtrack for the nearly four minutes of unexpected and delightful terrors (see premiere March 28th).”

Jo Passed has just announced headlining dates in support of Their Prime beginning May 25th in Vancouver, BC at Red Gate Arts Society and ending June 29th in Seattle at Barboza. Highlights include: Canadian Music Week in Toronto on May 12th; co-headline dates with Hardly Art’s Dick Stusso (June 6th-18th); and Calgary’s Sled Island Festival (June 21-23).
