On Silver/Lead, Colin Newman and Matt Simms’ guitar work is alternately jagged and luminous, while bassist Graham Lewis’s ear-catching lyrics are vivid yet oblique. Meanwhile, drummer Robert Grey provides a virtual masterclass in percussive minimalism. But it’s how the various instruments mesh together that really counts. And Newman’s production creates a sonic space in which even the smallest gesture is accorded some recognition.

Highlights include the optimistic dazzle of “Diamonds In Cups,” with its almost T. Rex-style buzz and chug, and the moody swing of “This Time.” Elsewhere on the musical spectrum, there’s the menacing widescreen grandeur of "Playing Harp For The Fishes" and breakneck-paced guitar pop of "Short Elevated Period."

Wire are one of the world’s most ground-breaking bands, their influence acknowledged by bands as diverse as Blur, Sonic Youth, R.E.M. and Savages. But they have never been interested in exploiting past glories. For Wire, there is only ever one possible direction: forwards. So it’s perhaps not surprising that over recent years, they’ve played strings of sold-out shows, achieved career-best record sales, and been cited as a strong influence by yet another generation of bands.

Wire’s last three albums garnered nothing but rave reviews. From 2013’s strangely beautiful Change Becomes Us (“It’s fantastic.” – Pitchfork) to the crackling motorik of 2015’s Wire (“It’s all really well turned, potent and crisp.” – The Guardian), and last year’s punchy mini-album Nocturnal Koreans(“It's a cracker and sounds defiantly modern.” – The Quietus). Consequently, although it may be being released on the band’s 40th anniversary, Silver/Lead is an album which has nothing to do with the past and everything to do with the future.

NEW ALBUM DUE THIS SUMMER VIA WICHITA RECORDINGS

TWO NEW SONGS "CHARM ASSAULT" & "HOME IS A FEELING" SHARED LAST WEEK

Ride by Andrew Ogilvy

"Many bands from Ride's heyday have reunited in recent years, but few have done so with such a renewed edge of energy, self-awareness, and mettle."
Pitchfork

Following the release of two new songs last week, British band Ride are back today to announce that in July they will be playing North American shows. The band will head to Toronto, Boston, New York, Philly, and DC for a slew of headline performances, with tickets available now. Last week Ride shared "Charm Assault," followed the day after by "Home Is A Feeling," the first new music that the group had released in 20 years. In their review of "Charm Assault," Pitchfork writes: "Many bands from Ride's heyday have reunited in recent years, but few have done so with such a renewed edge of energy, self-awareness, and mettle."

Ride's upcoming album, scheduled for release this summer via Wichita Recordings, sees the band reunited with label co-founders Dick Green and Mark Bowen, who they worked with during the band's early years on Creation Records. It also brings the band back together with mixer Alan Moulder (Arctic Monkeys, Smashing Pumpkins, The Killers) who mixed their seminal 1990 album Nowhere and produced its follow up Going Blank Again.

After a lengthy hiatus, Ride reformed in 2014. Comprised of Andy Bell, Mark Gardener, Laurence Colbert, and Steve Queralt, the band sold out headline tours around the world to a plethora of critical acclaim, as well as show stopping turns at festivals including Coachella, Primavera and Field Day. Hear "Home Is A Feeling", "Charm Assault" and the band's Spotify Influences playlist above, see below for tickets and details on the band's upcoming shows, and stay tuned for more from Ride soon.

Franz Ferdinand Announces US Tour Dates

ANNOUNCE 2017 LIVE DATES

Franz Ferdinand have revealed plans for a rare North American tour. The band will perform in several cities across the U.S including Nashville, Louisville, New York City and Los Angeles this summer. The Scottish band are also making festival appearances at Hangout Music Festival in May, Governors Ball in New York City and Firefly Music Festival in June.

It's been three years since the band last played in the US, when they played in support of their critically acclaimed fourth album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action.  Pull on your dancing pants for these shows:

North American Live Tour Dates
May 19 - 21st - Gulf Shores, AL @ Hangout Music Festival
May 22 - Nashville, TN @ Exit/In
May 23 - Charlotte, NC @ The Underground
May 25 - Raleigh, NC @ Lincoln Theatre
May 26 - Asheville, NC @ Orange Peel
May 27 - Pittsburgh, PA @ Stage AE
May 28 - Columbus, OH @ Newport Music Hall
May 30 - Louisville, KY @ Mercury Ballroom
May 31 - Cleveland, OH @ House of Blues
June 2 - Toronto, ON @ Danforth Music Hall
June 3 - Montreal, QC @ Metropolis
June 4 - New York, NY @ Governors Ball
June 7 - New Haven, CT @ College Street Music Hall
June 8 - Northampton, MA @ Pearl Street
June 11 - Oceanside, CA @ Oceanside Pier Amphitheater
June 12 - Los Angeles, CA @ The Regent Theater
June 14 - Baltimore, MD @ Rams Head Live!
June 15 - Charlottesville, VA @ Jefferson Theater
June 15-18 - Dover, DE @ Firefly Music Festival

Praise for Franz Ferdinand

"...they return sounding hungry for blood with their twin guitar glam-punk strut."
Rolling Stone

"...another smart disco party with zingy melodies, arty lyrics and garage-rock guitars."
USA Today

"Franz Ferdinand are the kings of cool, and the unique sound they've spent years crafting still captures the hearts of a massive crowd, one night after another. Tonight is no exception - the Sodo show was a sold out affair several weeks before the date. With a massive, twenty-four song set spanning every sound and style across their fantastically eclectic discography, Franz Ferdinand tore the roof off." - KEXP

"Given how sporadically the band has toured the U.S., how could I pass up a performance so relatively close to my O.C. base and in such an intimate setting? This evening's audience was apparently thinking along similar lines. So hyped were these fans that chanted, clapped and jumped along to every song, there was hardly a moment that didn't suggest a euphoric release of pent-up love for the Scottish quartet." - OC Register

"But it really is difficult not to like Franz Ferdinand-the band can make even the squarest white male want to get out and dance, while still satisfying the rock-'n'-roller inside who likes angular guitars and pop hooks. They're more fun than anything America has called dance music in the past decade." - Portland Mercury

HOMESHAKES's new video 'Every Single Thing' - announces west coast tour

HOMESHAKE

UNVEILS NEW VIDEO "EVERY SINGLE THING"

ANNOUNCES WEST COAST TOUR

FRESH AIR OUT NOW ON SINDERLYN

Homeshake - the musical project of Edmonton's Peter Sagar - unveils his new video "Every Single Thing" today via FADER. Peter adds about the video, "My mind wanders a lot, often overtop of someone else speaking to me. It's a bad habit, and I can't seem to shake it."  He returns to the west coast next month performing new songs from his critically acclaimed sophomore album Fresh Air, which dropped this month on Sinderlyn.  Highlights include San Francisco's Rickshaw Stop, Orange County's We Were Young Fest, Seattle and more. Full list of dates below.

Fresh Air continues Sagar's exploration of dreamy, downtempo bedroom R&B and draws inspiration from such disparate artists like Sade, The Band, Broadcast, Prince, and Angelo Badalamenti. As the title Fresh Air suggests, Sagar's songs were created to clear his listeners' minds of negativity. Full of smokey, laid back love songs and airy productions, Sagar's decidedly stoned sound is a breath of fresh air.

Grandaddy's New Album 'Last Place' via NPR First Listen

LISTEN TO FIRST GRANDADDY ALBUM IN TEN YEARS NOW VIA  NPR FIRST LISTEN!

New Album Last Place Out March 3rd on 30th Century Records / Columbia

"While revivals arrive frequently, it's more rare for a band to make a comeback album like Last Place that stands up alongside its best work. Now that Grandaddy is back, it's as good a time as any to rediscover what made this band's music so special in the first place." - NPR Music

Today is the day: you can now hear the brilliant new Grandaddy album, Last Place, in its entirety via NPR First Listen. Last Place, which will be released via 30th Century Records / Columbia on March 3rd, 2017, is the band's first new material since 2006.

On release day, Grandaddy will be playing a very special live streamed show for WXPN's Free At Noon series.  The set will be broadcast live on Friday, March 3rd at noon EST on acclaimed radio station WXPN in Philadelphia, as well as via their audio stream at http://xpn.org/music-artist/listen-live. The event will also be webcast via WXPN and Vuhaus https://www.vuhaus.com. This webcast will be available worldwide.

Grandaddy will also be playing just one show at this year's SXSW in celebration of the new album - taking place March 17th at Stubb's in Austin, TX.

After Grandaddy broke up in 2006, Jason Lytle relocated to Montana, where he happily made two solo albums, and reconnected with the natural world around him.  Eventually, though, life uprooted him again, taking him to Portland, Oregon until he eventually returned to his former home of Modesto, California.  The return to California was practical (he needed to be near his bandmates) but also appropriate:  he had started writing songs that he felt would be fitting for another Grandaddy album.  The result, Last Place, is a perfect addition to the band's celebrated, critically-acclaimed catalogue, that includes their breakthrough sophomore album, Sophtware Slump, and their debut, Under the Western Freeway. It's a symphonic swirl of lo-fi sonics and mile-high harmonies, found sounds and electronics-gone-awry mingling with perfect, power pop guitar tones. Lytle's voice sounds as warm and intimate as ever, giving graceful levity to the doomsday narratives that have dominated the Grandaddy output.

Grandaddy also begin playing their first shows in support of Last Place
next week, starting with a hometown show at San Francisco's Bimbo's 365 Club, and a sold out show at New York City's Le Poisson Rouge.
