"The most reliably great and sexually charged duo in blues- rock thrive onstage, stalking each other in a heady whirl of guttural screams and sharp cheekbones."  - The New York Times

"Beyond their considerable swagger, the Kills are also some of the best in the business musically, from Mosshart's snarling vocals to Hince's exhilaratingly perverse take on blues guitar." - Entertainment Weekly

"On Ash & Ice, Hince and Mosshart...polish their edgy sound, built on his caustic riffs and her witchy wail. But the difference on this LP, the band's fifth, is all in the beats... there are new production sounds, paired with catchy guitar and vocal riffs." - Rolling Stone

The Kills (Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart) released their fifth full-length album,Ash & Ice earlier this summer. Today, the band shares a special acoustic performance of "Hum For Your Buzz," which was filmed on the famous Warner Bros' lot in Burbank, California when they taped CONAN. The performance is the 2nd installment forCONAN's new series - Backlot Music.

Hannah Peel announces new album and shares single, 'All That Matters'

Hannah Peel
New single
‘All That Matters’
Out 9th September

New album Awake But Always Dreaming out 23rdSeptember

Label: My Own Pleasure

“A great singer and a latter day Delia Derbyshire” The Observer

“One to watch” The Independent

“Hugely impressive” Drowned In Sound

“Euphoric, orchestral pop” The Quietus

“Hauntingly-beautiful, leviathan atmospheric pop” The Line Of Best Fit

Acclaimed singer-songwriter and member of celebrated band The Magnetic NorthHannah Peel has announced the release of lead single ‘All That Matters’, taken from her remarkable second solo album ‘Awake But Always Dreaming’. ‘All That Matters’, an electronic dream-pop gem, will be released on 9th September.

The Northern Irish artist and composer is set to release the brand new album on 23rd September, which features 10 new songs plus a cover of Paul Buchanan’s ‘Cars In The Garden’ featuring a duet with Hayden Thorpe (Wild Beasts). ‘All That Matters’ opens proceedings with a pop mantra of living in the moment – “all that matters is here, sings Peel over layers of electronics.

Talking about the track, Peel said: “I wrote this song as a bittersweet mantra for someone close to me and since then, it seems to have also become my own tune to lift me out of troubled moments. A constant reminder that no matter what life throws at you, to not forget about the ones who will always care, the ones who are standing waiting to welcome you back, the ones who will forever look after you and say simply, they love you. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters, caring and being cared for. Yet to love and not be loved is one of the saddest things of all.”

Peel first came to recognition with her mesmerizing, hand-punched ‘music box’ EP ‘Rebox’, featuring covers of ‘80s bands Cocteau Twins, Soft Cell, & New Order. Having released her critically lauded solo debut album ‘The Broken Wave’, Peel then formed The Magnetic North, a highly praised and expansive collaborative project with Simon Tong (The Verve, The Good The Bad And The Queen, Gorillaz) and Erland Cooper (Erland & The Carnival). She also created a series of limited edition EPs, - the increasingly electronic ‘Nailhouse’ in 2013, followed by the stunning analogue beauty of ‘Fabricstate’ in 2014. A year later Peel released ‘Rebox 2’ with music-box covers of ‘Queen’ (originally performed by Perfume Genius), John Grant’s ‘Pale Green Ghosts’, Wild Beasts’ ‘Palace’, as well as her glorious cover of East India Youth’s triumphant ‘Heaven How Long’.

2016 has been yet another prolific year for Peel, so far including collaborations with Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve (aka Erol Alkan & Richard Norris) - she features on two BBC6 playlisted singles ‘Diagram Girl’ and ‘Creation’ - and composing under her new synth-based, space-age alter-ego Mary Casio with an experimental piece combining analogue electronics and a 33-piece colliery brass band (which debuted to a sold out Manchester audience in May). Meanwhile The Magnetic North released their critically acclaimed follow up LP ‘Prospect Of Skelmersdale’ in March.

Produced and recorded with long-term collaborator Erland Cooper, with orchestrations by Peel, both in their own, richly analogue studio in Shoreditch, London and at Attica Audio in County Donegal, Ireland, her new solo album ‘Awake But Always Dreaming’ is a record about memory: the luminous and beautiful formation of memories and the devastating loss or slow, insidious damage to the mind. “I’ve read 1 in 3 of us will die with dementia, and a third of us are connected to someone with dementia through family and friends”, says Hannah. “850,000 people in the UK alone have it now and 2 in 3 people affected will be women. It’s quite remarkable really, and it’s getting worse”.

Brian Wilson is one of popular music’s most deeply revered figures, a legendary writer, producer, arranger and performer of some of the most cherished music in pop music history. Wilson began his career as a teenaged founding member of The Beach Boys, who signed with Capitol Records in July 1962 and released their first album, Surfin’ Safari, that same year. The band’s initial surf-rock focus was soon broadened to include other themes. Wilson’s innovative vocal and instrumental arrangements for major hits including “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “God Only Knows,” and the No. 1 smash “Good Vibrations” made The Beach Boys America’s preeminent band of the 1960s.

Wilson has also achieved great solo success with 11 of his own albums released to date, including his acclaimed 2004 completion of an album he first began recording in the ‘60s, Brian Wilson Presents… SMiLE. The album earned Wilson his first GRAMMY® for a recording, which was followed by his second GRAMMY® win for producing The Beach Boys’ acclaimed 2011 release, The SMiLE Sessions. With his own band, Wilson has performed major, sold-out tours in recent years, and with The Beach Boys, he celebrated the iconic band’s 50th anniversary in 2012 with a major international tour and acclaimed studio album, That’s Why God Made The Radio.

In 2015, Wilson released his latest solo album No Pier Pressure(Capitol) and was the subject of the critically acclaimed, award-winning biopic Love & Mercy (Roadside Attractions/Lionsgate). Set against the era-defining catalog of the music, the film intimately examines the personal voyage and ultimate salvation of the icon whose success came at extraordinary personal cost. The culmination of these projects produced Wilson’s first Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song (Motion Picture) for his song “One Kind Of Love” featured in the film.

Brian Wilson is a Kennedy Center Honors recipient, a Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, and a U.K. Music Hall of Fame inductee. As a member of The Beach Boys, Wilson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and honored with The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.

Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and Edley ODowd
 Collaboration

More on Psychic TV and Genesis P-Orridge:

Born in 1981 from industrial music behemoth Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV is fronted by Throbbing Gristle's founder: anti-hero, artist, and Pandrogenist, Genesis P-Orridge.

Psychic TV is particularly known for its intense and visceral live performances and for a creative lineage that includes cultural luminaries such as William S. Burroughs, Derek Jarman, and Timothy Leary, among others.

Right from the outset, Psychic TV in turn made highly innovative and unflinchingly provocative music blending elements of psychedelia and dance with Industrial sounds (named "HYPERDELIC" by Genesis). As with Throbbing Gristle, the details of Psychic TV's packaging, marketing and the radical lifestyle of the musicians were all treated as equally crucial components of the final aesthetic statement. For some 14 odd years, Psychic TV recorded and released dozens of live and studio albums ending up in the Guiness Book Of Records for releasing more albums in one year than any other artist (even Elvis!). Psychic TV was terminated in the mid 90's as Genesis pursued further musical goals with h/er spoken-word and expanded poetry/video installation project Thee Majesty.

In 2003, artist and percussionist Edley ODowd gently but persistently persuaded Genesis to rekindle her rock spirit and Psychic TV. Edley succeeded and they played their first public show that December. The reactivated ensemble led by ODowd, has been touring the world and releasing music ever since.

The full history of Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and her varied seminal musical exploits of the past three decades as well as her soclo-cultural adventures would easily fill a book. Soft Skull/Shortwave Books published "Painful but Fabulous: The Lives and Art of Genesis P-Orridge" in 2003 and more recently with "Thee Psychick Bible" in hardcover in 2009 and paperback in 2010). Genesis continues to exhibit artwork around the world. Most recently at Art Basel, Miami, The Serpentine Gallery, London and a career retrospective at The Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh. H/er most current exhibition "Try To Altar Everything" is at The Rubin Museum in New York City through August 2016.

Already living a creative further chapter of h/er "life" book Genesis continues to provoke and explore in her very public private life; from replacing all her healthy teeth with solid gold permanent replicas in an homage to Pierre Clemente in
Luis Bunuel's "Belle De Jour." Littering the dictionary and culture with new words for new, original ideas Genesis can be said to follow the serious process and joy-filled strategy of "When there is no example imagine it, when there is no word for it, invent one."
