IO ECHO TO TOUR WITH HAIM

IO ECHO TO TOUR WITH HAIM THIS FALL

PERFORMING IN SUPPORT OF DEBUT ALBUM, MINISTRY OF LOVE, OUT NOW ON IAMSOUND

Riding high on the wave of their pastel doom, LA industrial pop duo IO ECHO are gearing up for their fifth tour of 2013, now alongside fellow Angelenos and longtime comrades Haim. The pair of Leopold Ross and Ioanna Gika is poised to segue the momentum from their recent acclaimed Lollapalooza appearance into another string of celebrated nights of live material from their debut LP, Ministry of Love, released last April via IAMSOUND.
Enrobed in the flickering glow of dimmed strobe light, IO ECHO claims the stage with an arresting aural and visual style that enmeshes East and West. Front woman Ioanna Gika draws from youth spent in Asia as she and Ross meld Koto and Chinese Violin into the band's orchestration and adorn sets with Sensu fans and painted screens. IO ECHO's singular aesthetic has garnered adoration from the fashion and arts communities, most recently culminating in a feature within the pages of the September issue of Vogue. Ioanna has also been recently selected as the face of Henry Holland's eyewear line, as well as gifted a custom designed kimono from Jeremy Scott.
No strangers to the road, IO ECHO have toured with the likes of Garbage, Bloc Party, The Joy Formidable and CSS, split billings with No Doubt, Nine Inch Nails and Salt N Pepa, and have mesmerized masses at Coachella, South by Southwest, and Lollapalooza. The tour kicks off September 1st in Boston at the Paradise Rock Club.

Watch "Baby I Call Hell" Live Clip from In Depth Sessions

Los Angeles based rock-duo Deap Vally have announced a run of West Coast dates this September. The "Moon Block Party presents Deap Vally & Friends" shows begin on September 16 in Seattle and travel south through Portland, Pomona, San Diego, Aspen and Denver. Deap Vally have already made quite a name for themselves opening on the road for Mumford & Sons, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The band will be playing a few upcoming shows with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club as well. For the full details of the tour, please see itinerary below.

To get a taste of the band's live performances, check out this live clip of their song "Baby I Call Hell" from the In Depth Sessions filmed at London's Eastcote Studios at the link below:

The girls will be joining multiple bands on the Simple Man Cruise VII in October, including Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Simple Man Cruise sets sail October 20-24th from Miami to Key West and Great Stirrup Cay on the beautiful Norwegian Pearl. The cruise is four days of nonstop shows on stages all around the ship, topped off with wild and crazy activities! Lynyrd Skynyrd brings another exceptional music festival, promising an incredible lineup of bands and the biggest rock n' roll fan reunion the open seas have ever seen. For more information, please visit: www.simplemancruise.com.

Deap Vally have also announced a show at the Mercury Lounge in New York City on October 08, the day that their upcoming debut album Sistrionix will be released via Cherrytree/Communion/Interscope/Island. The album was released in the UK to acclaim, with The Guardian hailing it as "a thoroughly unironic, seriously fun, rock record," and All Music Guide saying the band "...sound like the White Stripes or the Black Keys made over from the female side of things, with a sound that hits the same crunchy, thumping, swampy groove and looseness." Consequence of Sound hailed their live performance at Lollapalooza, saying: "Beautiful? Yes. Rock stars? Hell yes. If you're unfamiliar with Deap Vally, I pay them the ultimate compliment by asking you to imagine that Janis Joplin was able to play lead guitar à la Jack White... Needless to say, the audience offered up raucous applause."

The Growlers are in Manhattan on Oct. 5th as part of the Burgerama

The Growlers return with a new EP, Gilded Pleasures
-
Out November 12th, 2013 on Everloving Records!

Catch them live in Manhattan on October 5th
at the Bowery Ballroom.

Listen and share the lead single, "Humdrum Blues," that premiered recently at Noisey.

by Mookie Stevers at Waversons Magazine
The Growlers new EP Gilded Pleasures is a sweet new little brother to Hung at Heart that is fresh, plump and ready to slap. "We are still confused on what the point of releasing little increments of music at a time is worth. If we had it our way we would be doing a full length album every couple of months," says Nielsen. And so again with little time and a lot of ideas, The Growlers have put together 9 songs whittled down from 13 in under two weeks. "Writing songs comes easy, our love for creating is never-ending, its the guidelines that create difficulties." The album titled Gilded Pleasures has an R&B makin' out on mushrooms feel that accompanies their previous release perfectly.
It was recorded and co-produced at an old pump house in Topanga Canyon by Kyle Mullarkey and The Growlers. Mullarkey has been an influence and big brother to them from the beginning, especially his work with The Grand Elegance and the Abigails. Two bands that had helped prepare Mullarkey for confined corners with the infamous Big Kids Los Growlers.
When asked why the name Gilded Pleasures? "We made simple songs with a little soul for our satisfaction, then we brought them into the studio and covered them with reverb and ribbons of tape for our fans listening pleasure. This record is simple and soulful and reminds me a lot of the early Growlers that a lot of our new fans never got the chance to hear," said Nielsen.

"Empire of the Sun gets it right. Wherever you dance this summer, you will be dancing to this record." - Associated Press

"Everything about Empire of the Sun is larger than life: The band name, the futuristic stage personas, the Dune-inspired album art and - most importantly - the music"- Rolling Stone

"It's hard not to love every minute of 'Alive'" - Billboard

With a North American headline tour launching this week, Australian electro pop pioneers Empire Of The Sun reveal a five-track video EP "Live At The Sydney Opera House" today via Vevo and announce details of forthcoming single and remix bundle "DNA"  from their latest album "Ice On The Dune" (out now on Astralwerks).

Following a summer of multiple festival plays including HARD 2013, Bonaroo, and Life Is Beautiful, Empire Of The Sun return to North America for an extensive tour including additional festival plays at Philadelphia's Made In America Festival this weekend and Live 105's Oracle Arena show in Oakland CA. The rest of the tour will offer fans the chance to see the band headline in more intimate settings such as the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., Pier 26 at Hudson River Park in New York City and the House of Blues in Boston. The band will close the tour with a special Halloween Show at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium on October 31. (See below full list of dates.)

Capturing the cosmic pageantry of an Empire Of The Sun live show in vivid detail, the "Live At The Sydney Opera House" video EP features live cuts from the bands sold-out show at the historic venue earlier this year. Premiering today via Vevo the EP includes performances of "Ice On The Dune" album tracks "DNA", "Concert Pitch", "Ice On The Dune", "We Are The People", and "Celebrate". Watch it here.

Empire Of The Sun also announce "DNA" as the second single from "Ice On The Dune" as a digital single and remix bundle for release September 24 featuring new remixes from Calvin Harris, Alex Metric, Brodinski and more. The "DNA" video will release in full September 5 - in the meantime fans can preview a trailer for the new video via Under The Radar Magazine.

"DNA" follows first album single "Alive," a #1 Billboard Dance/Club Play hit and #1 HypeMachine charting track that is currently enjoying radio support from stations such as KROQ, KCRW, and more. The band made its U.S. television debut performing "Alive" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" earlier this summer and the "Alive" video - produced by Kelvin Optical, Inc., a division within Bad Robot - has more than eight million views.

Formed in 2008, Empire Of The Sun is Luke Steele (The Sleepy Jackson) and Nick Littlemore (Pnau). Two of Australia's leading musician/producers, the duo created a vision that seemed to come from an alternative reality - a post-apocalyptic psychedelic adventure known as Empire of the Sun. The resulting album, "Walking on a Dream", went on to sell more than a million copies worldwide and contained the singles "We Are The People", "Standing on the Shore" and the RIAA certified Gold hit "Walking on a Dream."  The album helped spearhead the then-burgeoning EDM movement and earned eight ARIA awards and two BRIT nominations. The adventure continues with "Ice On The Dune", which Steele and Littlemore produced with the Walking on a Dream production team.

The Octopus Project Embark on Fall US Tour + Download

The Octopus Project Embark on Fall US Tour

Download + Share “Perhap”

Austin's favorite experimental pop band, The Octopus Project, have returned with their 5th studio album Fever Forms, released July 9th, 2013. The band is proud to present the third single from the record, “Perhap,” which lures you in with its gentle, pulsing synths and a baby's coos only to be obliterated by the ghost of John Bonham guiding a theremin orchestra into 47th dimension. Listen to it courtesy of Glide Magazine HERE.

Within their stylistically diverse discography, Fever Forms is most representative of the Octopus Project live experience - dense and euphoric, a concentrated dose of frenetic beats and exuberant melody set in a brilliantly colored sound world.  Recorded by the band and mixed in collaboration with Erik Wofford (Black Angels, M. Ward, Maserati), the album has been praised as sounding "as jubilant and ecstatic as peers like Deerhoof or Dirty Projectors and channeling the same optimism and weird charm as The Flaming Lips while pushing their own unique sound" (Fred Thomas, All Music Guide).

Some facts about the band:

The Octopus Project has been releasing joyous party music since 2002, all the while touring the world both on their own and as handpicked support for artists as diverse as Aesop Rock, DEVO, and Explosions in the Sky.  They have earned a reputation for elaborate multimedia experiments, lavish album packaging, and the intensity of their extremely fun, extremely loud live shows.

Tour dates below.

Listen to the fan-favorite and critically acclaimed first single Young Fathers here (approved to embed): http://snd.sc/11ILE5Q

Typhoon recently stopped by KEXP for a session. Watch here:

"Mighty, powerful songs whose instrumentation conveys big, bold joy ...
White Lighter takes the promise they've shown and delivers completely. The uplifting melodies and rhythms that sway and swing, mixed with lyrics about hopeless dreams and cold realities, works so well." - NPR's All Songs Considered

Young Fathers is a "mind-boggling chunk of orchestral pop ... this latest epic dives into the group's enormous range: Morton's earnest vocals lead the charge, his wondrous delivery flanked by left-field riffage, sudden fits of silence, chirping backup singers, and triumphant horns - and those are just a few of the sounds thriving inside 'Young Fathers.'" - Spin Magazine
"White Lighter is built on the urgency of death and the beautifully fleeting nature of life: Morton unspools his tortured poetry over lush blankets of sound - pianos and guitars and multiple drum kits; horns and strings swelling to angelic crescendos." - Paste Magazine

"[Young Fathers] just grabs you right from the beginning. It jolts you. You think, almost, it's by accident. But there's this huge and complex sound coming from [11 members] ... there are these big, booming, sweeping, majestic pieces all in the same song. And the juxtaposition, to me, is very powerful."- NPR's Here & Now

Fans can purchase White Lighter at iTunes, Amazon and other digital retailers:

Frankie Rose Reveals New Track, "Street of Dreams"

FRANKIE ROSE
Frankie Rose revealed a second song off her forthcoming Fat Possum debut, Herein Wild, this week, sharing with the NY Times Style Magazine a cover of goth/punk band the Damned's "Street Of Dreams." T magazine notes that Rose's standout version of the track "brings a modern spin to the quintessential goth tune with menacing synths and pulsing rhythms, her angelic voice taking on a more ghostly cast than usual" This track is a highlight on the new album and can be heard below.

"Street Of Dreams" comes weeks after the first track, "Sorrow", was revealed to fans on and praised by a diverse range of critics. Billboard, who recently did an interview on Rose, lauded "Sorrow", noting that it "presents some unexpected sonic treats, including a string arrangement that bulks up the track's emotional impact and a roaring outro that rewards patience." SPIN remarked that Rose "expands on her New Wave-y pop leanings, turning in an upbeat, string-enhanced performance with just a hint of Broadcast in the mix." Stereogum went on to compare the song to "David Lynch's idea of coffeehouse folk."Check out the new Pitchfork Update feature on Frankie Rose for more details on the new album.

Frankie Rose's forthcoming album, Herein Wild, is out on Fat Possum on September 24th. Look out for North American tour dates coming soon.

Press Quotes /

"Rose's glistening pop doesn't sound over melancholy. The music is moody enough to lyrically recognize life's struggles and the passage of time, but beautiful enough to evoke vast bodies of water and clouds meandering by." Billboard
"An artist whose scope is increasing all the time and who knows exactly what she’s doing."  Stereogum
"There is no questioning her status as a crusader of Brooklyn’s indie-pop scene." The New York Times
"Expands on her New Wave-y pop leanings, turning in an upbeat, string-enhanced performance with just a hint of Broadcast in the mix.SPIN
"She's rocking the current micro-vogue for Eighties shoegaze pop: guitar-synth swirls, paper-thin New Wave bass surge, space-waif vocals like a spring breeze that barely billows your window curtains." Rolling Stone
