About Dum Dum Girls Too True:
(Dee Dee): In the summer of 2012, I locked out the world and sat down in my apartment to write a new record -- clear view of the New York City sky through iron bars like a promise.  I was waiting with bated breath (“and whispering humbleness”) to let the muse loose.  I was a woman possessed and my possession enabled me, and this rare moment of actively stepping outside my otherwise introspective head, to create things tangible to others, I found truly transcendent.    Here is my best attempt at joining the rock’n’roll ranks, of chasing pop into the dark, and I am as ever, humbled that you listen (read more at Sub Pop).

Emily Jane White’s songwriting is at once generous and tough-minded, reflective and unsentimental - possessing the confidence of a singular voice, inspired by the raveled threads of the uncanny in American culture, including depression-era blues and post-Victorian gothic literature.  Yesterday, her first single “Faster Than The Devil” premiered with Pitchfork showcasing a much heavier and thicker sound that can be heard throughout Emily’s new album, Blood / Lines, set for release November 19 on Important Records.

Blood / Lines is a collection of gorgeously dark song vignettes built on a foundation of reverbed emotion, rhythmic drive, and minor-key pop sensibility.  After releasing three albums in three years, Oakland’s Emily Jane White wrote over 100 sketches between January 2011 and October 2012.  Blood / Lines is a selected compilation of these songs. Recorded in a secluded studio in Sonoma County, California, the quiet environment provided Emily a place to explore new directions and to grasp creative control.   With the help of her friends and collaborators Wainwright Hewlett, Shawn Alpay, Marissa Nadler, Nick Ott, and Darwin Meiners, her songs diversify with strings, backing vocals, bass, and heavy drums.

Emily doesn’t wallow in morbidity; instead she considers her work to be unifying, an empathetic reflection on the universality of adversity. Blood/Lines displays loyalty to dark and somber atmospheres through bright sounds, heavy drive, and bold arrangements. Love, anger, and violence move through each vignette. Kinship generates complex intimacies. Love can entrap the unwary and betray the devoted.

Best Coast is excited to premiere the first video from their mini-album, Fade Away. The video was shot earlier this month in Sun Valley, CA by Patrick O'Dell who shoots the Epicly Later'd series for VICE.
Says Bethany, "I wanted to make a video that was super fun and LA-inspired without doing anything at the beach like so many of our videos.  I've been a big fan of Patrick's for a while and I wanted to get him involved because I knew he would understand my vision. I got to hang with my friends and a bunch of hot skater boys all day! A dream come true."

Fade Away, the first release on Bethany Cosentino's Jewel City label, in partnership with Kobalt Label Services, sets Best Coast off on a new burst of independence and creativity, which includes another album they'll start recording in November for release this Spring. And it reflects the increased confidence that Cosentino and her bandmate, multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno, gained in the three surreal years since their breakthrough album Crazy For You.

Press Quotes

"Lyrically introspective, musically tight and vocally resolute, Fade Away is Best Coast's best work to date." - Alternative Press

"As Best Coast grow and mature, new layers of surprising depth are emerging. For an EP, this record is remarkably satisfying and fulfilling. It feels like an album." ABC News

"Best Coast's Fade Away is a short, sweet burst of the effervescent sun-dappled pop-rock we've come to crave from Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno." - Stereogum

"What's accomplished by Fade Away, released on Ms. Cosentino's new label, Jewel City, is balance. These love-battered songs, with chugging beats, strummy distortion and lyrics as bluish-black as a bruise, don't suggest a retrenchment so much as a realignment, as if Best Coast had absorbed its lessons and figured out what to leave behind." - New York Times

NZ/LA quintet The Naked and Famous have debuted a new video for 'I Kill Giants,' taken from their acclaimed sophomore album, In Rolling Waves. Directed by Joel Kefali, longtime creator of the band's videos and most recently Lorde's, the track, described by All Music as "particularly epic in proportion and cinematic in its emotional momentum," is fronted by lead-singer Alisa Xayalith's personal and heartbreaking vocals, who elaborates, "at first I felt insecure singing about something so infinitely painful and blatantly autobiographical. But now I'm more comfortable explaining that 'I Kill Giants' is a song about losing my mum to breast cancer as a young girl. Thanks to Joel for directing such a beautiful video."
The band have completed an expansive North American tour, adding extra shows in New York and DC, and are now in Europe. They head to New Zealand and Australia for Big Day Out before returning to the states for an arena tour with Imagine Dragons in February 2014. The quintet also recently made the television debut of their single "Hearts Like Ours" on THE LATE LATE SHOW with CRAIG FERGUSON, which first aired as Zane Lowe's "Hottest Record in the World Today" on BBC Radio 1  and went #1 on the Hype Machine overnight, garnering praise from NYLON, Cosmopolitan, MTV, ELLEand Glamour, among others, who said simply, "we're loving it." Check it out here.
In Rolling Waves was recorded in Los Angeles with tracks co-produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen (M83, Beck, NIN), and mixed in London by Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Killers, Foals). Available now on Republic, it follows the band's debut album, Passive Me, Aggressive You, featuring the US Gold hit single 'Young Blood,' which reached global sales of over 500,000 and took the band's YouTube and Vevo views beyond 25 million.

Bleached shares "Love Spells" music video for Halloween

Watch: "Love Spells" - http://youtu.be/pULd8HpFAMY

Bleached are proud to share a new music video for "Love Spells" which they made in honor of Halloween. The band is fresh off a tour that included gigs with Best Coast, White Lung, and The Men, but they return to the road for dates that include London Calling Festival, Fun Fun Fun Fest, and The Weezer Cruise in the new year. Also, click here to visit The Fader for a picture of Jennifer and Jessie in Halloween costumes as children. Jennifer explains the concept of the video below.

"Halloween and October are my favorite time of year so I was excited when I realized we had a month to put together a rad B-Horror style music video before Halloween gets here! So with the help of some amazing friends, and taking inspiration from our girl sunbathing in the graveyard shirt we got it all together. We made it past the obstacles like getting kicked out of our first filming location, leaving the next morning for our Europe tour, editing it on the road in the van, and keeping it all pretty DIY. Xoxo."  - Jennifer Clavin

Cate Le Bon - Mug Museum

Cate Le Bon - Mug Museum

Street Date, November 12th, 2013, Wichita Recordings

Cate Le Bon returns this Autumn with Mug Museum, perhaps her most beguiling and complete song cycle to date, which will be released November 12th on Wichita Recordings in North America and November 11th on The Elite Meat Supply (Turnstile) in the rest of the world.

Having finished live commitments for CYRK towards the end of 2012, Le Bon returned to Wales to write the songs that would become Mug Museum. The album is informed by a period of taking stock after a bereavement. "Following the death of my maternal Grandmother I felt a very palpable shift in the roles that we'd all become accustomed to within the female line of the family which, for the first time, had me mulling over the importance of my place and purpose within this female chain" says Le Bon "The album's theme emerged from and circulates around these maternal familial relationships and this period of a calm, lengthy, intent consideration in turn drew other relationships into the Mug Museum".

With Le Bon subsequently relocating to California, Mug Museum was recorded at the recently opened Seahorse Sound studios, Los Angeles. Produced by Noah Georgeson (who is perhaps best known for his work with Joanna Newsom and Devendra Banhart) and Josiah Steinbrick, Mug Museum is an album that lets in the sunlight and space and relocates the West Wales lilt in Le Bon's voice to an equally apposite West Coast setting. In the studio Le Bon assembled a band of friends from both continents such as multi-instrumentalists Sweet Baboo and H. Hawkline and Nick Murray from White Fence.

As well as describing the personnel involved in Mug Museum, 'Welsh - Californian' is a phrase that captures the album's sound: melodic, confident and wrapped in a hazy psychedelic gauze."I wrote the majority of the record in the home country but a few songs were finished out here in the run up to recording" says Le Bon "I'm sure Los Angeles has bled into the recordings somehow but exactly how I do not know".
Throughout Mug Museum Le Bon's voice changes register to both dramatic and emotional effect. This is beautifully exemplified on 'I Think I Knew', a duet with Perfume Genius, one of the album's most atmospheric tracks and one on which two distinctive personalities combine to produce a performance of rare alchemy. Click here to listen to and download the track from SoundCloud.

From the bewitching circular riff of the album's opener 'I Can't Help You' to the closing title track that sees Le Bon accompanied by piano and the occasional burst of double-tacked clarinet, Mug Museum's reflective song-writing weaves around a richly detailed framework. Like all museums it is a contemplative space, a personal world that is open to everyone. As these ten songs attest Mug Museum is also a unique and dreamlike edifice, created by an artist at the height of her powers.

"Some bands play chords, but the so-far-unstoppable Warlocks play clouds -- songs that swirl around you like smoke and probably leave a little haze in your head, too."  - LA WEEKLY

The Warlocks release their first new album in 5 years, Skull Worship on November 26, 2013 through Zap Banana.

Recorded over a 2 year period, Skull Worship is the Los Angeles-based band’s eighth album. The Warlocks construct a dense, more elaborate web of sound, layers of distortion and the occasional synth a la Silver Apples and Red Crayola. “Silver & Plastic” expands the band’s oeuvre into acoustic territory recalling T Rex. Other songs like “Endless Drops” turn to Hawkwind, Neu! and experimental rock for inspiration.
“Not everything fits perfectly on this record,” describes singer Bobby Hecksher. “There are loose parts, fragmented sections and then it rocks all together. It's not perfectly polished like a lot of records out there. More like an expression of moments in time that drip together like a strange dream.”

Bobby continues, “I consider Skull Worship the final musical piece of the trilogy which started with Heavy Deavy Skull Lover, then The Mirror Explodes and now Skull Worship. They are all suppose to be connected with similar cord changes and fragmented weirdness.”

Skull Worship Tracklisting:
1.     Dead Generation
2.     Chameleon
3.     Endless Drops
4.     Silver & Plastic
5.     He Looks Good in Space
6.     You’ve Changed
7.     It’s A Hard Fall
8.     Eyes Jam

Bobby Hecksher: Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards & Bass
JC Rees: Guitar, Feedback, Percussion
Earl V. Miller: Guitar, Drone Machine
Chris DiPino: Bass
George Serrano: Drums
