Alessi's Ark "Notes from the Treehouse"

Alessi’s Ark to Release 2009 Debut Album, Notes from the Treehouse, for the First Time in North America

Stream the Album Early on Spotify for Inspiration in Album Cover Art Contest

Haw River, NC - July 30, 2012 - Alessi’s Ark, the musical project from British folk-popster Alessi Laurent-Marke, will digitally release her debut album, Notes from the Treehouse, for the first time in North America Sept. 18. The album was only available in the UK after its 2009 EMI/Virgin debut; her most recent effort, Time Travel, was released in September 2011 on Bella Union North America.

Since this isn’t your typical release, the self-proclaimed crafting enthusiast is looking for designers to create an exclusive North American release album cover. Alessi has teamed up with music design contest site, Creative Allies, to host the competition.

It’s hard to create an unreleased album’s cover art without some music for inspiration - which is where Spotify comes in. The site is the exclusive contest partner, and the only place to check out the album in North America before its September digital release. Designers and artist will be able to stream the album in full only on Spotify, helping to inform their design submissions.

After the contest ends, fans will also get a chance to vote on their choices for the winning cover over on Alessi’s Facebook page. The top entries will battle it out for Likes, and both the designers of the fan favorite and Alessi’s pick will win music and swag from Alessi and Bella Union - on top of seeing their artwork at digital retailers.

Notes from the Treehouse was recorded in Omaha, NE when Alessi was only 17 years old. Featuring members of Bright Eyes, infamous producer Mike Mogis was at the helm. Now a seasoned pro, she is working on a follow-up to her last album Time Travel this summer in Athens, Ga. She has toured with Laura Marling, Laura Veirs and Mumford and Sons.
